Now as awesome as all that sounds, have you ever seen a lion cooped up in a cage? You know you don’t want to wander in to the containment area where the lion is, but at the same time you don’t seem to get the same vibe as you did after reading those fun facts. It’s more like an over grown cat then a killing machine. And I think the reason we get that vibe is because this animal is not in its element. It’s not fulfilling its God-given purpose by exercising its full potential. With that thought in mind, even as awesome as the lion might seem, the scriptures never say that God made them in His image.
On the other hand according to Genesis we were made in the image of God, Ephesians 2:10 says, For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do, Psalm 139:13-14 says, You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it, and Psalm 139:16 says, You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
I think these passages speaks volume into God’s intentions for us. He made us with a God glorifying purpose! We were not meant to live caged up by a normal life. We were not meant to be tamed. Our quirks, likes, dis-likes, skills, talents, experiences, birth-place, birth date, and-on-and -on, were God’s special touch to mold us into who we are for the purpose he has for us.
Don’t get held back because you don’t feel qualified for the job after you’ve compared yourself to someone else. God created you with a Kingdom building purpose (His not Ours!). Don’t wait any longer. Jump in to the adventure that God has prepared for you!
