One Thought That Will Free You To Serve

Dan Chung-stock snapEver felt overwhelmed by the amount of need around you? Have you just quit serving because the more you did the more needed to be done? Is the answer to just not do anything for anyone; it’s not like it’s even going to make that much of a difference anyway?

I don’t believe that’s the answer.

If I look at the mass, I will never act. If I look at the one, I will” – Mother Teresa

According to Mother Teresa, if you look at the size of need or crowd you will probably freeze in fear. But focusing on just one gives you the hope of success. You can at least do something for this one person and it will be a big deal and make a big difference in the life of that one person.

Take some time today to think of any areas where you have just stopped serving. Why did you stop? Think of one person you could help or serve. Remember that one person matters. That one person’s life could be completely changed because of you effort.

Jesus said in Luke 15:4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?

And seeing that we are referred to as sheep in other parts of the bible, we can this as an image of what Jesus did for us. He cared about the world, but He also cared enough about the one that He left the mass and searched out and continues to do so. There’s value and worth in the one. Why? Because each “one” is a soul that Jesus created and loves.

I encourage you today to Do For One What You Wish You Could Do For The Many.
