Staking Your Life On God’s Faithfulness

Does it matter if you take risks?

Will it make a difference if you choose to live safely behind a wall of complacency, laziness, fear, or indifference?

Would God ever call someone to place themselves somewhere that makes them vulnerable?

Staking Your Life On The Faithfulness Of You

What are you staking your life on?

Is it on your ability to come through or God’s?

I believe that God does call you to risk. Not risking usually means that we are obeying our desires for comfort and safety.

But God doesn’t call us to risk for the sake of risking. He calls us to risk because there is so much at stake that we can just play it safe.

God asks us to risk because it usually works as a catalyst for transformation.

It normally means we are obeying what we have heard in His word.

Risk pushes us to trust in God and experience Him more deeply then if we stayed behind the walls of our own comfort where we can manage every situation and we are not required to look outside of ourselves for help.

You are asking the wrong question

I believe you are asking the wrong question.

The question that should be at the forefront of every Christian’s mind as they consider risk is – is Jesus worth it?

When the question is would God call me to risk it all, the value is placed on what you have to lose, not what you have to gain.

Paul’s life and writing is rich with this very thought.

  • Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
  • Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,who loved me and gave himself for me.
  • Philippians 3:8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ
  • Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus is worth it

Jesus is worth it.

Whatever you lose has no comparison to what you gain.

Would you trade a diamond for a penny? No, you wouldn’t.

Because you know there is a crazy difference in their worth. Anything you can gain in this world is the penny and everything you have to gain in Christ is like a trillion diamonds and than some.

The trade is ridiculous and we have been blinded to fight for a penny when the Lord of glory is trying to give us riches unimaginable.

Staking Your Life On The Faithfulness Of God

So yes, God will call you to risk.

And He does so because He cares about you too much to leave you scrounging for crumbs when there is a feast ready to eat.

God doesn’t want you settling for trinkets void of real value when the riches of a cosmic King at your finger tips.

Stake your life on God’s faithfulness. Run to Him and never look back.

Gut Check:

Are you afraid to risk it all for God?

Do you value anything more than Jesus?

If you said, Jesus is worth risking it all, would people say your life agrees or disagrees with that statement?
